Welcome back. By now your 1% Challenge account should be looking pretty with how often you’ve been saving. And, if you’ve eliminated your low-hanging fruit expenses then you’re riding smoothly! Congratulations, that’s the 1% challenge. Except… nothing is quite that simple isn’t it? Profit First is reminiscent of starting –and sticking to– a diet. It’s simple, our health professionals recommend it, but goodness is that one of the hardest things to do. Eventually something will tempt us to raid our profit account be it a scary expense, or an incredible opportunity.
Profit First Professional Accountability Group
Let me share a personal story:
When I chose to go all in on Profit First and went for my Profit First certification, I learned about accountability groups. I knew if I wanted to be successful with PF I would need to be held accountable to the system. I found out that a new group was forming and that group is the reason that PF changed my life. In this group, we discuss our goal for every month, study together, and cheer each other on as we ensure mutual success. It’s the perfect way to keep on track with Profit First.
I still attend this accountability group after many years in my PF journey. And I'm a Profit First Professional. Just 7 days ago I met with my group, stated my goals for the month, and let the group raise their concerns. They ask me questions about what I really want, how I’m going to get there, and even ask me if my financial goals are too large. They keep me grounded, realistic, but at the same time they keep me motivated to reach for more.
If you started the 1% Challenge this year then you might need what I needed, an accountability partner or group. I have been part of my own accountability group for several years now, and they continue to push me towards greater financial heights. This partner needs to be tough to dissuade you away from raiding your profit account, and it helps if you keep them accountable as well. By relying on our accountability partners our businesses will become leaner and ourselves more disciplined. It is these core qualities that help us embrace the Profit First mindset fully.
